What is JEE Advanced?

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is the second stage of the JEE exam, held for admission to prestigious IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology). JEE Advanced is considered one of the toughest exams and is taken by candidates who have qualified JEE Main.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced

• Age Limit: Candidates should be born on or after October 1, 2000 (for General category); age relaxation applies for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have cleared JEE Main and passed the class 12 exam (or equivalent) with at least 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).
• Number of Attempts: A candidate can appear for JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
• Other Criteria: Candidates must be among the top 2,50,000 rank holders in JEE Main.

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern

1. Mode of Examination

• Computer-Based Test (CBT) for both Paper I and Paper II.

2. Number of Papers

• Paper I: Objective-type questions in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
• Paper II: Objective-type questions in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

3. Marking Scheme

• Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks.
• 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer (negative marking).
• Unanswered questions will not be penalized.

4. Duration

• The duration of each paper is 3 hours.
