What is JEE Main?

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is a national level exam conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) for admission to undergraduate engineering programs at IITs, NITs, and other centrally funded institutions. JEE Main is a gateway to JEE Advanced, the exam required to enter IITs.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Main

  • Subject Combination: Candidates must have studied Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/Biology as compulsory subjects in class 12.

JEE Main Exam Pattern

1. Mode of Examination

  • Computer-Based Test (CBT) for both Paper I (B.Tech/B.E.) and Paper II (B.Arch/B.Planning).

2. Number of Papers

  • Paper I: For B.Tech/B.E. (Objective-type questions in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics).
  • Paper II: For B.Arch/B.Planning (Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing).

3. Marking Scheme

  • Each correct answer is awarded 4 marks.
  • 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer (negative marking).
  • Unanswered questions will not be penalized.
