Barometers & Its Types

A barometer is a scientific instrument that is used to measure air pressure in a certain environment. Pressure tendency can forecast short term changes in the weather. Many measurements of air pressure are used within surface weather analysis to help find surface troughs, pressure systems and frontal boundaries.
Types of Barometers
Mercury Barometer- The mercury barometer is the oldest type of barometer, invented by the Italian physicist Evangelista Torricelli in 1643.
पारा बैरोमीटर में एक ग्लास ट्यूब होती है जो ऊपर से बंद होती है और नीचे से खुली होती है। ट्यूब के निचले भाग में पारे का एक पूल होता है। पारा ट्यूब के चारों ओर एक गोलाकार, उथले बर्तन में बैठता है। ट्यूब में पारा डिश के ऊपर वायुमंडलीय दबाव से मेल खाने के लिए खुद को समायोजित करेगा। जैसे-जैसे दबाव बढ़ता है, यह पारा को ट्यूब के ऊपर धकेलता है। ट्यूब को मापों की एक श्रृंखला के साथ चिह्नित किया गया है जो वायुमंडल या बार की संख्या को ट्रैक करता है। बैरोमीटर में पारा कहाँ रुकता है, यह देखकर पर्यवेक्षक बता सकते हैं कि हवा का दबाव क्या है।
Aneroid Barometer- The aneroid barometer, which uses metal disks and springs instead of liquids for measurement, is more widely used today than the mercury barometer. It is also safer, as it poses no health risks from mercury poisoning.
Digital Barometers- like this one measure and display complex atmospheric data more accurately and quickly than ever before. Tech. Sgt. Michael Willen, a weather forecaster for the 438th OSS/OSW, at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey, is measuring humidity as well as atmospheric pressure.
