Explanation: Binoy Krishna Basu along with Badal Gupta and Dinesh Chandra Gupta launched an attack on the secretariat 'Writers Building' in Kolkata on 8th December 1930. The three comrades, Benoy, Badal, and Dinesh, decided to kill N S Simpson, as well as other Britishers, to strike terror into the heart of Raj’s official circles. This was to be an attack on the Writer’s Building, the Secretariat, in the heart of Kolkata. They all are parts of the revolutionary organization Bengal Volunteers. To avoid police arrest Badal took Potassium cyanide, while Benoy and Dinesh shot themselves with their own revolvers. Badal died on the spot.
