Rekha Gupta is a seasoned Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of Delhi as of February 20, 2025. A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), she has had a long and impactful political career. She started as the President of the Delhi University Students' Union in 1996 and later served as a three-time municipal councillor. Gupta was also the mayor of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation, where she worked on urban governance and public service improvements. In the 2025 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections, she won the Shalimar Bagh constituency, securing a landslide victory that positioned her as a key leader in Delhi politics. Following BJP’s legislative victory, she was elected as the Leader of the Legislative Party and subsequently appointed as Chief Minister. Her leadership is focused on addressing environmental challenges like air and river pollution, improving infrastructure, and enhancing public services. Gupta is also known for her advocacy in women's empowerment and education for underprivileged students. As Chief Minister, she aims to introduce policies that ensure sustainable development and efficient governance in Delhi.
