Ayushman Bharat, launched in 2018, is a flagship healthcare initiative by the Government of India aimed at providing accessible and affordable healthcare to millions of citizens. The program has two main components: Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs), which provide comprehensive primary healthcare services, and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), offering health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. This initiative seeks to reduce the financial burden of medical expenses and improve healthcare accessibility across the country.
