Bangladesh Reservation Protest - Why is there an uproar in Bangladesh

Uproar over job reservation in Bangladesh is in the news. Total 56% reservation has been given in jobs, In which 

  • 30% are the relatives of liberation warriors,
  • 10% for women , 
  • 10% People from backward districts
  • 5% minority
  • 1% Handicap

Now the youth demand that this system should be changed. There is an uproar in Bangladesh due to such demand. On 18th july, Security forces are firing tear gas and rubber bullets on the protesters. Internet service has been stopped in many parts of the country. The protestors demand that discrimination in government jobs should be abolished. A few days ago, university students were protesting against job reservation for freedom fighter boys. Because 30% jobs are reserved for liberation warriors children. 

Students are demanding to end this demand of reservation and to give jobs on the basis of merit.

In this regard, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina says, नौकरी मुक्ति योद्धाओं के नाती पोता को नहीं मिलनी चाहिए तो क्या राजवाडो के पोता पोतीयो को मिलेगा, मेरा देशवासियों से यही सवाल है कि उनका अपराध क्या है? उनका बस यही अपराध है कि उन्हें जान की बाजी लगाकर, अपने परिवार और दुनिया को भूलाकर देश के लिए काम किया था

The protesters say that they will continue to protest until the government ends the reservation. In view of this protest, Maitri Express running in India and Bangladesh has been stopped.
