Justice Surya Kant is an eminent Indian judge known for his integrity, sharp legal acumen, and commitment to justice. Born on February 10, 1962, in Hisar, Haryana, he completed his law degree from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. He began his legal career as an advocate in the Punjab and Haryana High Court and was designated as a Senior Advocate in 2001. Justice Surya Kant went on to serve as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court and was elevated to the Supreme Court of India on May 24, 2019. Throughout his judicial career, he has delivered several landmark judgments, particularly in matters related to constitutional law, administrative law, and the protection of fundamental rights. Known for his balanced approach and progressive interpretations, Justice Surya Kant is also considered a potential candidate for the position of the Chief Justice of India (CJI) in the future.
