State Legislative

A state legislative body in India is responsible for making laws on matters that are not covered under the Union List. The legislative body may consist of one or two chambers: the Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) and, in some states, the Legislative Council (Vidhan Parishad). The state legislature debates and passes laws on state issues such as education, health, and agriculture. It also checks the executive's power by holding the government accountable through debates and discussions.
