भारत ने सेमीकंडक्टर उद्योग में बड़ा कदम बढ़ाया। अमेरिका की कंपनी Micron Technology ने गुजरात के साणंद में दुनिया का सबसे बड़ा सेमीकंडक्टर क्लीनरूम खोला। यह 500,000 वर्ग फुट (लगभग 46,450 वर्ग मीटर) क्षेत्रफल में फैला है और single raised-floor clean room के रूप में विश्व में सबसे बड़ा है।
क्लीनरूम में अत्यंत साफ वातावरण सुनिश्चित किया गया है ताकि सेमीकंडक्टर चिप्स की असेंबली, टेस्टिंग और पैकेजिंग (ATMP) में किसी भी तरह की धूल या कण से खराबी न हो। इसे प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने उद्घाटित किया।
